In the honor of the International women’s day
On March 4, alumna Sara Stojanovska ’22 organized an event “Making Cards of Gratitude” where participants could make their own thank you postcard for a loved one. This activity helped the participant to improve their crafting skills and share a postcard with a woman that they are proud of for her accomplishments. Seven alumni participated at the event at the American Councils Office in Skopje. The alumni made approximately 40 cards of gratitude.
On March 8, marking the International Women's Day, CR Emilija Krstevska '22 together with the Rotaract Club Shirok Sokak Bitola handed out flowers to women passer-by on the Shirok Sokak, the most famous street in Bitola. The day was filled with joy and smiling faces, wishing women a happy holiday as well as promote the KLYES Program and the Rotaract Club Shirok Sokak. Both organization aim to create change in the community in a positive way. Happy International Women's Day!
From the March 4-10, CR Marija Arsovska '19 organized a social media campaign with the focus on "Gender Equality and Women Empowerment". Each post contained educational and informative material on how to create an equal society and equal opportunities for women and men.
On March 9, Isidora Stefanoska '22 organized an event named "Paving the way: Powerful stories from Rajna Aleksova and Sarah Breedlove" with the assistance of the YES Abroad student Rachel Smith. The event took a place at the American Corner Skopje as a way to honor International Woman's Day. The stories of Rajna Aleksova, the first Balkan woman pharmacist with a diploma and Sarah Breedlove, the first female self-made millionaire in America, were shared as a way to highlight the importance of resilience, determination, and perseverance in the face of adversity. The workshop concluded with a writing exercise where the15 participants took the time to reflect on their future goals and the way to reach them.
