YES Abroad visit to Bitola

On April 27-28 the American Cohort went on a trip to Bitola. Throughout the trip they explored the center square of the city, visited the archeological site Heraklea, and hiked up the Pelister Mountain. While enjoying the local cuisine and beautiful views, they also had Albanian classes with their language teacher and learned many new phrases. This experience was a great insight for the cohort to experience one of the oldest cities in Macedonia and its history of being known as “The City of The Consuls”. They also learned that the territory of Bitola was founded as “Heraclea Lyncestis” in the middle of the 4th century BC by Philip II of Macedon.
