Board Games Club and Virtual Reality
YES Alumnus David Mladenovski ’20 is very passionate about virtual board games. He shared his interest with the YES alumni network and friends and stared organizing a virtual board games club every Sunday evening. It became an ongoing event where alumni can socialize virtually in zoom and play games.
David also organized a Virtual Reality (VR) workshop at the American Councils office in Skopje, aiming to introduce his fellow alumni to the world of VR technology. The workshop featured six alumni participants who, under David's guidance, delved into the immersive realm of Virtual Reality, gaining insights into its functionality and historical development. David provided a comprehensive presentation on the origins and evolution of VR technology. During the workshop, each participant had the opportunity to experience a VR application firsthand, showcasing the diverse potential applications of this emerging technology. This event served as a platform for popularizing and disseminating knowledge about VR technology within the alumni community, fostering awareness and understanding of its capabilities.
This is what David has to say about his interest:
“Ever since I became a YES alumnus, there were always two things that everyone could count on me for: my board game hobby and my interest in the field of Virtual Reality. And in truth, I never really disappointed when it came to these expectations. Throughout the years I had the privilege of supporting my fellow peers develop their own workshops and ideas and so, I knew who to count on when it came time to start my online board game club. These many Sundays remain in my memory as times when friends became friendlier, as we all used our 2020 Zoom training to keep in touch, inviting alumni from other countries and having fun while doing it. Indeed, these many weeks gave me the excitement to further share my interests, culminating in the exploration of the newly advancing field of VR, where I showed how it worked and let every participant try it out for themselves. These workshops allowed me to express myself authentically by sharing the joy I had for certain things with others, and in doing so, hopefully, inspire others to do the same, for generations to come.”
